All About Pineapple Pizza! Everyone should know what a pineapple is. It’s that spiky yellow fruit that makes your tongue fizzle like pop. It’s a tropical fruit usually grown in Costa Rica, the Philippines, and Indonesia. When it’s cold and cut into cubes, it is very refreshing and tasty. Of course, there is also the pizza part where the dough with tomato sauce and cheese make a perfect combination. So, how was pineapple pizza invented? There was a man named Sotirios Panopoulos who invented the Hawaiian pineapple. Panopoulos was born in Greece and moved to Canada later in his life. He was 20 years old when he decided to try pineapple on pizza in 1962 to attract customers. Some people thought that it tasted horrible because it was too acidic and sweet to be on a pizza. Although it’s a fruit that does not usually go on cheese yet people think it tastes good others say that the combination hits just right.
The Main Question… So now, the big question everyone wonders about, does pineapple belong on pizza? Pizza was created in Italy, and no one used pineapple in Italy. Pineapple on pizza only started being used when it came to the West. So do Italians hate pineapple pizza that much? Supposedly no– I’ve looked at many articles and all of them say that Italians do not hate pineapple on pizza that much. All of it is just an over-exaggeration. There are many other disgusting combinations such as clam chowder popsicles that make pineapple on pizza seem like a childish issue. In my opinion, I also believe that there is no harm in putting pineapple on pizza, as some people do believe it’s a good combination.
