EMILY WONGEDITOR
One of my all-time favorite songs is "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz! It features one of the most mood-boosting amalgamations of clever lines, funky fingerpicking and grounding percussion. This song inspires me to look on the bright side and find my courage amidst the pandemic and the fast-paced allure of the senior life. I hope Press will serve as your Mraz and be an inspirational place for all Sharks to amplify their voices!

maya longauerSECRETARY
My current favourite song would probably be "Here comes the Sun" by the Beatles. This song is simple, yet it has a great metaphor, it represents positivity and light. With everything that has been happening, we could use more positivity, and hopefully our club can help provide that, and inspire students as well. I am looking forward to contributing to the SLSS Press as my first year as an Exec!

CHARLEY NGART DIRECTOR
A piece of writing that has impacted my life would definitely be anything written by Hayao Miyazaki. His stories really inspire me to dream up new ideas and get creative. My favorite musical artist would be Daniel Caesar or Childish Gambino, both of their music impacted me, as most of their songs have lots of meaning and metaphors behind them.

Krishangi DandapureCo-Editor-in-Chief
For a second year now, Krishangi is proud to be part of Press as Co-Editor-in-Chief. With all the uncertainty in the world clouding our vision of the future she hopes to help provide the SLSS community the comfort of familiarity through this club. When not stressing about the pending life-altering decisions that senior year brings, you can find her dancing, cooking, sleeping or debating with literally anyone. As Co-Editor-in-Chief this year, she hopes to reinstate Press as a major and crucial club in the school in the most memorable way possible.

briA SequeiraCo-Editor-in-Chief
From playing music to projects, friends to fitness, and everything else she does in between for her high school career, Bria is humbled to finally have a hand in leading SLSS Press during her concluding year at Steveston-London. A devoted member since grade 9, she has found a home in writing articles, creating vlogs and managing content for this club. When she’s not spreading herself too thin, Bria loves spending her free time adventuring outdoors, snacking, or casually riding her unicycle around. She hopes that she and her amazing Co-Editor-in-Chief will lead Press into a new, re-invented era that achieves tremendous success this year!

leo liPublic Relations
Unwillingly in his final year of high school, Leo is ecstatic to serve on the SLSS Press Executive team again and always finds incredible value and new learnings from his involvement. When not struggling with sleep deprivation, or trying (unfortunately mostly failing) to realize his architectural fantasies, he enjoys drawing, reading, or a good nap. Leo’s wide range of passions include the aforementioned activities, Model UN, badminton, and of course student publications. As Public Relations and a designer, Leo not only hopes to bring the spotlight back to this underappreciated club, but also to curate a distinct and instantly recognizable style for it!

Lily LiCo-Editor/Video Director
Since grade 8, Lily has always been a part of the SLSS Press and is honoured to continue as an executive member in her final year of high school. The past couple of years have solidified Lily’s interest in photography, videography, and journalism. In her spare time, she enjoys watching old movies, browsing unsplash for royalty free photos, and testing different bubble tea chains with friends. Though she is often found struggling to cool down her Macbook from running Premiere Pro, making lactose free iced coffee and napping. As the co-editor and video director this year, Lily is greatly looking forward to bringing forth the revamped vision of slss press alongside her amazing team :)
theresa mahOutreach Coordinator
Here comes the devil, Marty! Theresa is a Grade 12 student at Steveston-London Secondary School. As someone who pairs flannels with Birkenstocks, she firmly believes that this apparel matrimony is not just a hobby, but a personal agenda and lifestyle. She still hasn’t grown out of her edgy tumblr phase and likewise engages in basic gardening tool phenomena, like sanctimonious behaviour and illusory superiority. As someone who boldly straddles the intersection between derangement and sanity, she can be found on the corner of said intersection selling her mental breakdowns. All of her jokes are cries for help.
|
shirley liIT/Video Director
While Shirley can usually be found doing math in her spare time, since arabic numerals do not necessarily convey emotions like words do, writing still remains as the only way for her to boldly express the profoundness of her mind. But at any time, she would still be thrilled to discuss Fermat's last theorem with you. Now that this is the 5th year she’s been with the SLSS Press, she’s feeling ecstatic about her final year of high school. Her favourite inanimate objects in the world at the moment are: inline skates, the piano, rice and petrichor. She hopes to make the best of the present, smile through her senior year, and enjoy the simple moments of life. After all, seen evidently in 2020, life in reality is no fantastical fairytale.
ester ImSecretary
Esther is ecstatic to serve as the secretary for SLSS press in her final year of high school. In her free time, Esther can be found training at her martial arts school, binging the latest k-drama, playing guitar, or folding away at Old Navy! Esther is honoured to be a part of the 2020-21 press executive team along with her amazing team members. She believes that writing is a very powerful way to express oneself and is a great way to share ideas and thoughts. As secretary, she will do her best to make sure students have a place to showcase their work and provide some high quality meeting minutes. :)

felix maCo-Editor
Grade 12 student, Felix Ma is editor for the SLSS Press. It is his second year as part of the Press Team and Felix is extremely excited to work with new and returning members alike. In his free time Felix can usually be found in front of a screen, wasting away as he indulges is the wonderful world of reality television on YouTube. Otherwise, as he imagines most of his peers also do, he can be seen enjoying snacks while simultaneously feigning productivity. Besides being a part of Press, Felix is looking forward to life getting back to normal again, hopefully in time for all the fun senior events and especially graduation (Please!). As Co-Editor Felix will ensure that content put out by the SLSS Press is of high quality, and reflects accurately on our school's creativity and writing ability.
SHIRLEY WUOutreach Coordinator
You will most likely find Shirley blueberry picking, running to hype music, working on her push-up form, or writing about her big life reflections for her blog. That said, she is thrilled to be part of helping Press move forward as a club that can bring spotlight to every individual voice in the student body, no matter how small. She firmly believes in the empowering art of sharing ideas through writing. Working alongside another talented and dedicated co-outreach coordinator, Shirley is very keen on the idea of passing leadership and the legacy of the club down to younger students by implementing an inclusive shadower program.

Krishangi DandapureEditor-In-Chief
A member since grade 8, Krishangi is eager to be part of the Press's Executive team for her grade 11 year. Having once aspired to be a professional writer (abilities and a dream now lost in the reminiscences of childhood), she hopes to revive her lost writing skills this year. Aside from Indian classical dancing and being a benchwarmer in various sports, she enjoys reading books and discussing political issues. In the future, she would like to become a Human Rights Lawyer. As Editor-in-Chief, she will strive to make this year with Press unforgettable.

Jessie HallEditor
Jessie is a grade 12 student from Steveston-London. She is an avid storyteller through either written or dramatic means. If she’s not frantically trying to learn her drama lines, she’s either on the court, or on the soccer pitch. She enjoys writing and performing spoken word poems. If you’re walking through the hallways, chances are you can probably hear her too. This is her first year as a SLSS Press exec and she is very excited to pour her heart into the role of editor.
|
Felix MaEditor
A grade 11 student and the occasional badminton player, Felix can be spotted most days at home, in bed, on YouTube (and various illegal streaming sites), watching the latest episodes of 90 Day Fiance. He enjoys gourmet dining at the Ikea bistro, and he takes pride in maintaining his streak on Duolingo. It's his first year as an exec, but he's excited to work with the other members of the SLSS Press!
|
Shirley LiIT Director
Shirley Li is a Grade 11 student at SLSS. She can be found almost always doing math on the bus, while she’s eating lunch, or when ever she has free time. (Yes, math, you read it right) She is extremely proud of her ability to multitask so that she can to binge watch an entire anime series and finish her math homework at the same time. Shirley has had a passion for writing since grade 1, buying a new journal every year but never finishing any of them. (What a waste of paper)
|
Janice ChanSecretary
Janice is a grade 12 student at SLSS. When you catch her watching The Office, you’ll know Janice is in her happy place. She also enjoys jamming to tunes from the 70s, doodling letters on her homework, and cuddling all dogs on Earth. If the weather’s nice out (half the time it’s raining), she likes to try activities that allow her to explore nature, such as hiking with dogs or kayaking with her family. Often times she is either craving chocolate or cheese, but not both at the same time! Janice is excited to be a part of SLSS Press as this year’s Secretary
|
LEo LIPublic Relations
Leo is a grade 11 student at Steveston-London and is eager about joining the SLSS Press team. When not frantically studying or intensely scrolling through instagram in search of design inspiration, Leo can be observed speeding through the school hallways in order to get to a classroom for a hasty nap. Holding the role of Public Relations, Leo hopes not only to expand the reach of the club, but also to contribute monthly issues featuring instagrammable and architecture related spots in the Lower Mainland. Although he may look dead on the outside, he is very approachable and is always willing to assist anyone willing to ask him for help!
|
Bria SequeiraContent Director
Bria is ecstatic to be an exec for the first time with SLSS press this year. She can be found sleeping in the band room or occasionally playing up her guitar or trombone with her friends. She may not be the best at writing reports or getting her preposterous ideas down on paper, but her experience as a circus performer outside of school enables her to create fantastic layouts for fellow press members to fill the space. Her other hobbies include eating, complaining about school, and petting cats. Bria is looking forward to making press the most creative and well known club out there!
|
Content Director
Lily is ecstatic to serve as a Content Director for SLSS press and wishes she can say the same about being in grade 11. When she isn’t procrastinating or stressing out about school, Lily can be found playing the saxophone in jazz band, engaging in mediocre debate in Model United Nations, travelling, taking portraits of friends or editing photos. In the future, Lily aspires to be a teacher and educate children around the world.

Grace XuanPublic Relations
This is Grace! Grace has heard thousands of attempts from people trying to correctly pronounce her last name. So let’s cut to the chase- it’s pronounced Shen! Grace enjoys browsing through Pinterest, spending money, and finding humour in her bad jokes. One of her favourite pick up lines to use is “I’m going to go see my optometrist this weekend because I’ve been having some serious vision issues.... I just can’t take my eyes off of you. “ Grace is determined to create aesthetic online posters for this upcoming year and will work hard as your PR! Join SLSS Press!
|
AZADEH KASHANICo-Editor-In-Chief
If Azadeh is not stressing about school, last night’s Canucks game, or any other minor inconvenience, she’ll be taking mediocre pictures for below average professional sports teams and probably tripping over a flat surface. Her incredibly healthy and original diet consists mostly of bubble tea and UberEats deliveries. Some odd flexes include: having the periodic table of elements memorized and remembering useless sports facts and statistics.
|
KERRIE YECo-Editor-In-Chief, Content Director
Kerrie is currently in grade 12 and you can either find her in Physics after school help, or stressing about school. She loves taking naps, tagging Azadeh in memes, and playing ultimate. Even though her writing is mediocre, she joined SLSS Press to demonstrate her creative abilities by helping with the website layout. She’s excited to help Press grow even more this coming year along with the team!
|
MICHELLE LIContent Director
When you think of the word "lazy", you'll think of Michelle. She is currently a grade 12 student at Steveston-London, and although she may have no writing talent whatsoever, Michelle just enjoys creating cool spreads for the SLSS Press. The three things she loves most in this world are cats, hedgehogs and food and is probably the laziest person in the club. In her spare time, you can find her procrastinating by watching large amounts of Netflix, or playing Ultimate Frisbee. If not, then she’s probably sleeping, which explains why she isn’t answering your texts or calls.
|
LEO WANGContent Director
His name is Leo Wang, but you can call him smart athletic kid. When he’s not plugging wires, Leo is enjoying the recreational activity called Ultimate Frisbee. Leo aspires to be a potato farmer when he grows up, hoping that one day, every child in Africa can eat potatoes to survive. Leo is incredibly cool. He usually plugs wires, but when he’s with SLSS Press, Leo is one of the I.T. Directors working behind the scenes. As one of the I.T. Directors of SLSS Press, Leo works and maintains the press website. He also creates some of the graphics that you see like the press logo. He can often be found playing League of Legends with Josh instead of doing his work.

EVE KATAYAMAPublic Relations
If you see a student holding McDonalds or Coco’s and wearing socks and berks almost everyday, then that’s Eve; the author of “Food For Thoughts” and the Public Relations of the SLSS Press. When she’s not stress studying, you can find her at RC drinking her Cheese Bubble Tea from Le Tea or at Aritzia trying on clothing she can never afford. She loves watching and playing ultimate frisbee and has a strong passion and love for food, Eco team, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Go follow @Vancityfoodiess on Instagram to see all of the food places Eve and her friends have tried before (it’ll make her very happy too) !
|
NICOLE MENDOZAPublic Relations
If you ever need to find Nicole, just close your eyes and listen for her voice, because chances are she’s talking so loud you can hear her within a 5k radius. She’s a grade 12 student who spends her days wilting at the Richmond Centre dining terrace with a Tim’s ice capp in hand and a lot to say. She makes all the dank memes that promote the SLSS Press. JOIN THE CLUB :)
|
ISAAC HOYLANDEditor
When Isaac isn't living under the fourth row of seats in the theater, they're reading books, attempting to study, listening to absolutely atrocious music, or growing increasingly anxious about world affairs. They recently joined SLSS Press as an editor, although exactly how is yet to be determined. They are always at least 35% confused at any given time. Isaac runs "The Book Nook", the SLSS Press' book review column.
|
JOSHUA CHEWEditor
His name is Joshua Chew, but you can call him Joshua Chew. Some of his hobbies include procrastinating, complaining, and silently being annoyed by everyone. He is an editor for SLSS Press, but he also wants to be: cool, hip, rad, etc. He hopes to help the club grow in membership this year, and will achieve this goal by poaching members from Interact club, for which he is Vice-President. When avoiding his responsibilities, he can be found playing League of Legends with Leo.
|
AREEJ ALTAFSecretary
Areej is a grade 12 student who is the secretary of the SLSS Press. If she’s not in school shouting out all the wrong answers in class, she’s probably complaining about first world problems or drinking too many caffeinated beverages in a day. Even though her organization skills are below average, Areej strives to be the best secretary out there !!
|
RICA LAUEditor
Rica is ecstatic to be in her senior year of SLSS. She had started creatively at a young age, but she didn't rediscover her passion until joining SLSS Press. Like any other common Richmonder, she can be found drinking a plethora of bubble teas (50% sweet, no ice, and with pearls), watching K-Pop videos of Seventeen at a questionable hour, and debate with fury at Model United Nations. Rica is excited to see the creativity that lies in the minds of SLSS students and hopes that Sharks can enjoy the ingenious articles that will be posted on SLSS Press.

caitlin stephensonEditor
Caitlin is a passionate and reliable grade 12 student. She has concluded that the best foods begin with the letter ‘C’: cheetos, cookies, chocolate, coffee and candy! When she’s not at dance class, you can find her watching How to Get Away with Murder or visiting Tim Hortons. She swears that her interest in the field of law has not come from watching multiple legal and crime dramas, but in fact from her ENEX 10 project (guess it helped someone after all)! With a zeal for writing poetry and a love for reading, she is extremely thrilled and honoured to work with the Press team this year!

kathleen kongEditor
Kathleen is a grade 12 student at Steveston-London and has been a member of Press since Grade 10. When she's not busy studying, she can usually be found napping, watching Netflix or trying to convince herself that she's actually a good driver. She is also a passionate participant of Model UN and an amateur photographer. This is Kathleen's first year serving as a Press executive and she is very excited to be working with such a great team of writers and editors!
